1.Introduction
This privacy policy outlines how YF Life Insurance International Ltd. (a company incorporated in Hong Kong), through its branch in the British Virgin Islands (the “BVI”) ("YF Life") will collect, maintain and use your “personal data” and / or “sensitive personal data” (each as defined in the BVI Data Protection Act, 2021 (the “DPA”) and collectively, the “Personal Data”) and is intended to comply with the requirements of the DPA. In particular, YF Life will ensure that:
- only proper and legitimate means are employed to collect personal data;
- reasonably steps are taken to ensure that personal data collected and used is accurate;
- use of personal data is consistent with the DPA;
- personal data is protected by appropriate safeguards and made available only to “Authorized Persons” (as defined below);
- you have the right to ascertain YF Life and its BVI Branch’ policies in relation to personal data and be informed of the kind and /or purpose of personal data held by YF Life and its BVI Branch; and
- you have the right to request access to and / or correction of your personal data.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner (as defined in the DPA) if you believe your data protection rights have been violated.
2.Information We Collect
YF Life may collect and hold your personal data in relation to your personal, retirement and policy particulars, medical and occupation history, financial, vocational and claims information.
3.How We Use Your Information
We collect and use your personal data for the following purposes (whether within or outside the BVI):
- approving, evaluating or processing your insurance application /policy service request;
- administering, maintaining or reinsuring your policies;
- adjudicating your claims, or conducting any investigation or analysis of your claims;
- providing services to you in connection to your policies;
- data matching;
- investigation or prevention of crime; or
- fulfilling legal or regulatory requirements.
Processing is carried out based on lawful grounds under the DPA, including consent, contractual necessity, legal obligation, and legitimate interests.
Please note that your provision of personal data to YF Life is entirely voluntary. However, if you fail to provide your personal data upon request, we may not be able to process your request or provide insurance services.
4.Sharing & Disclosure Of Information
Your personal information (including a record of your image or voice by whatever means and your health information) collected by YF Life by any means (including through the Electronic System (as defined in the Online Terms & Conditions and Legal Notice) may be used, stored, transferred, disclosed by them to any of the following parties (each an “Authorized Person” and collectively, the “Authorized Persons”), whether within or outside the BVI, for the purposes as specified above:
(1) YF Life group companies and their associated / affiliated companies;
(2) financial institutions, insurance companies, intermediaries and reinsurers;
(3) claims investigation companies or any companies /persons necessary for claims assessment / investigation;
(4) industry associations / federations and their members;
(5) governmental / regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies; and
(6) crime prevention organizations and their members / participants; and
(7) any individuals / organizations under a duty of confidentiality to YF Life.

Your personal information may also be used, stored, transferred, disclosed by YF Life to any regulatory bodies to enable them to carry out their regulatory functions.

You warrant that all information provided by you through the Electronic System is true, complete and up-to-date and that you agree to notify YF Life of any change of the information provided by you.
6.Updates To This Policy
YF Life may update this privacy policy periodically. Changes to this privacy policy will be posted on www.yflife.vg , showing the effective date of the update.
